Athena Storm sums up the intention of her charity with the acronym S.K.E.Y.E. L.I.M.I.T. Storms Kinetic Energy You Embrace, Living Is My Intended Trade. She is looking to change the way special needs people interact with the rest of society, and she wants them to be able to go from just surviving to actually living. She believes that anything is possible, and that even if you are labeled with a disability you should explore your abilities.
S.K.E.Y.E. L.I.M.I.T. is designed to assist special needs people with all things "non medically necessary". That is a term you hear a lot when you have special needs. For example, for children under the age of 18, a ramp isn't considered medically necessary for you to enter or exit your home. Transportation (wheelchair van rental), to a fun event isn't medically necessary either, only transport to medical facilities. Average family vacations are often more expensive when you require special accommodations or assistance.
We are also spreading awareness about what is available and about the potential of people who have been labeled as disabled. Many times if you don't have a reference for what is possible you can focus on the disability not the ability. Special needs people have extraordinary minds and deserve to live extraordinary lives.
Monetary requests would be first come first serve. There is a $700 yearly cap per applicant.
We are accepting all kinds of donations not just funding; experiences, air miles, gadgets, mobility equipment, used computers and other technology, toys, services (cleaning, transportation, lawn care, beautician, manicures etc., anything that would be difficult or more expensive to do as a special needs person.)
